2013 Oscars: Victoria's Secret Show

1. Sex School (The Austrian International School of Sex, Austria)

If you felt that Sex Ed classes in school were rather inadequate, we have some good news for you. There is now a school that provides courses related exclusively to sexual education, and includes practical instructions as well. The Austrian International School of Sex (AISOS) will soon be open to students near Vienna. The opening was announced by the headmistress of the school, Ylva Maria Thompson. The vision of the school, according to Thompson, is to teach people how to be better lovers. She goes on to say that people spend time and money on training their mind, muscles, and fitness, but do not spend enough effort on developing their love-making skills. This is precisely what the sex school hopes to address.
Curious to know more? Well, all we know for now is that the school plans to provide theoretical and practical training. Courses such as the history of sex and modern sexual theory will be taught. A major chunk of the course, however, will be 'hands-on'. An entire semester at the school consists of five full-term and three special intensive courses. The cost for a semester is Euro 1,400 which is roughly $1,850. According to the school's website, classes will take place at an 18th century mansion, which is about a half-hour drive from Vienna. The mansion has been redecorated to suit the needs of the school and is equipped with high-tech teaching rooms.

I couldn't find any information on what title you could get after finishing the course, but I think that nailing a husband would be guaranteed.

Note: our readers pointed out that this school turned out to be a hoax. It was made up by a facebook group called The BirdBase. The incident caused some furor in German and Austrian newspapers.

2. Wizard School (Grey School of Wizardry, California)

He is the real-life wizard headmaster giving Harry Potter's Dumbledore a run for his money. Oberon Zell-Ravenheart, 68, has dedicated his life to studying the Dark Arts – even doing the shopping in his wizard costume and wand. Now the magic master has opened the world's only registered wizard academy, the Grey School of Wizardry, as he prepares to make Hogwarts and the world of Harry Potter a reality. Today, Oberon Zell-Ravenheart's Grey School of Wizardry is the first wizard school to be officially recognized as an academic establishment. Like Hogwarts, the Grey School teaches 16 departments, including Alchemy, Beastmastery, Horse-whispering, wand-making and spell casting. Pupils who attend s unique 'conclave' magic schools are split into four ancient houses – Winds, Undines, Gnomes and Salamanders, and like Potter, students study a defense against the deadly Dark Arts.

3. Medical Marijuana Growing (Med Grow Cannabis College, Michigan)

At most colleges, marijuana is very much an extracurricular matter. But at Med Grow Cannabis College, marijuana is the curriculum: the history, the horticulture and the legal how-to's of Michigan's new medical marijuana program.

"This state needs jobs, and we think medical marijuana can stimulate the state economy with hundreds of jobs and millions of dollars," said Nick Tennant, the 24-year-old founder of the college, which is actually a burgeoning business (no baccalaureates here) operating from a few bare-bones rooms in a Detroit suburb. The six-week, $485 primer on medical marijuana is a cross between an agricultural extension class covering the growing cycle, nutrients and light requirements ("It's harvest time when half the trichomes have turned amber and half are white") and a gathering of serious potheads, sharing stories of their best highs ("Smoke that and you are … medicated!").

4. The Beatles, Popular Music and Society (Liverpool University, England)

It may be 2011, but Beatlemania is alive and well in the most unlikely and likely of places: academia and Liverpool. Oakvillian Mary-Lu Zahalan-Kennedy, a former Miss Canada finalist, is the first graduate of Liverpool University's master's degree program entitled The Beatles, Popular Music and Society. The program has 12 full-time students and aims to analyze the Fab Four's impact on Western culture by determining the "significance of the music of the Beatles in the construction of identities, audiences, ethnicities and industries, and localities."

5. Bagpipe Major (Carnegie Mellon University, Pennsylvania)

It's not unusual for young boys to be spellbound by pirates. But when Nick Hudson would watch the movie version of Robert Louis Stevenson's "Kidnapped" as a child, it wasn't for the sword play or the adventure on the high seas. Rather, he was completely captivated by a bagpipe duel. More than a decade later, Mr. Hudson is a senior at Carnegie Mellon University -- and the nation's only graduating bagpipe major.

In 1990, the school instituted the world's first bagpipe degree, a major -- complete with a designated need-based scholarship -- focusing on both studio performance and the history and culture behind bagpiping. Mr. Hudson is just the third bagpipe major to graduate from Carnegie Mellon since the establishment of the program, though there are two other majors now enrolled behind him.

6. Professional Nanny

Sullivan University offers an online degree in what they believe is a growing concern: nannying. The school is producing Professional Nanny Graduates who they believe are skilled, educated and "ready to join your team as an in-home childcare provider." Nannying can be a high-paying job if you manage to find a stable position with a good family. Having a degree in Professional Nannying will give you a leg up on the competition, but crossing over into another profession with this degree won't be easy.

7. Packaging (University of Wisconsin-Stout)

Students who enroll in one of the nation's few undergraduate packaging programs don't spend four years learning to think outside the box. They learn to think about the box. A degree in packaging teaches students how to create the most economically, aesthetically, environmentally and technically sound packages for the good we use on a daily basis.

According to the University of Wisconsin-Stout, graduates of its packaging program go on to work for companies like Snap-on Tools, Frito-Lay, Kohler and FedEx.

In a survey on 2009 graduates of the UWS program, in the months following graduation, 95 percent of packaging graduates were employed, 90 percent in a field related to their major.

8. Poultry Science (Auburn University, Alabama)

This major is pretty self-explanatory. Students studying poultry science will learn how to raise and manage healthy chickens, turkeys, and ducks for the purpose of producing eggs or meat. Students use principles of chemistry and biology within this niche field of study.

9. Meat Cutting (Eastern Oklahoma State College)

Yeah, you read it correctly. What, you didn't think that butchers went to school for their craft? If you have a passion for cutting up meat, then you can follow your dreams all the way to Eastern Oklahoma State College or Hinds Community College in Raymond, Mississippi. Making it through college can be difficult. You just have to find a way to stay focused and cut through the tough parts.

10. Turfgrass Management (Michigan State University)

Michigan State University is one of a handful of schools in the country that offers a turfgrass specialization.Under its College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, students in the MSU program learn to maintain golf-courses green, athletic fields and parks by taking classes like "Weed Science" and "Pest Management Strategies for Turfgrass."Graduates of the program have nabbed some pretty notable jobs, too. According to Jill Cords, a career consultant with the college, two alumni actually faced off at last year's World Series. One alumnus was a groundskeeper for the Texas Rangers, and another was working for the San Francisco Giants.

Poem-A-Day: Teach me I am forgotten by the dead by Ralph Waldo Emerson

Posted: 25 May 2013 03:04 AM PDT

Teach me I am forgotten by the dead

by Ralph Waldo Emerson

Teach me I am forgotten by the dead
And that the dead is by herself forgot
And I no longer would keep terms with me.
I would not murder, steal, or fornicate,
Nor with ambition break the peace of towns
But I would bury my ambition
The hope & action of my sovereign soul
In miserable ruin. Nor a hope
Should ever make a holiday for me
I would not be the fool of accident
I would not have a project seek an end
That needed aught
Beyond the handful of my present means
The sun of Duty drop from his firmament
To be a rushlight for each petty end
I would not harm my fellow men
On this low argument, 'twould harm myself.

[Fropki] Coolest Credit Cards

Hyderabad Times Most Desirable Women

What's in your wallet? Well, for a couple of days this week, the billfold of an Oklahoma man contained a Capital One credit card bearing the iconic Nick Nolte mug shot. Taking advantage of the bank's offer to personalize your plastic with a favorite photo, David Mackie, a 35-year-old salesman, recently went online and submitted a card design featuring the disheveled actor's September 2002 booking photo. Surprisingly, the bank–whose internal controls might merit a review–quickly replied with an e-mail announcing, "Congratulations! Your image has been approved." Capital One subsequently realized its error, but not before the Nolte card, seen above, had already been mailed to Mackie's home in Ponca City in northern Oklahoma.

Estonian Otto de Voogd decided to take advantage of a very cool offer from his bank, SEB Eesti Ühispank. Their site lets anyone (from age seven and up!) upload an image via a web interface and they will create a custom bank or credit card from the design. A firefox fan, de Voogd sent them the logo and picked up the card a few days later.

Shouldn't all credit cards be SFW?

'Me Gusta' Visa Card.

This Dubai First Royale MasterCard comes with an embedded diamond, probably making the card worth more than most charges.

Transformers Visa, avaible in Japan.

This personalized Futurama credit card references a scene from season 6, episode 3, "Attack of the Killer App." Of course, if you are a fan you already knew that. But what you might not know it's also a fool-proof Futurama-nerd dating tool, because if you use this card every time you make a purchase, the cashier will almost always ask what it means. But eventually, maybe, just maybe, you might hand over the card to someone who looks at it and gets the joke on their own. And that's when you've found yourself a nerd soul-mate. Of course, any true Futurama fan knows Visa hasn't existed for 500 years.

Visa and various international designers from all over the world have launched 100 beautifully designed credit cards for Epos International of Japan. This chocolate sample is definitely the most delicious one.

The notion of "frequent gamer rewards" has been tossed around by trend specialists and pundits for some time now as online gaming becomes more and more profitable and increasingly entrenched in mainstream culture. Now, it's a reality with the World of Warcraft Visa credit card.

This Black American Express is made of pure titanium; you could stop a bullet with this card.

Made for the Russian private bank Uralsib, this Optical Illusion Visa card is quite simply mesmerizing. It was created by Moscow-based graphic designer Alexander Khuhlin, and we can very well imagine the user becoming thoroughly hypnotized if they had this card in their possession – probably not the kind of thought patterns you would want going through your mind at the cash register.

This card might look like any other, but actually it's no such thing: it's a cunningly disguised USB 2.0 Flash Drive, which can store 8GB of data. With a device like this sitting snugly in your wallet, you can be certain that you're not going to lose your files; and if anyone is looking for them, they probably won't look here.

[AffirmationstoDe-Stress] MORNING COFEE

Posted: 24 May 2013 07:03 PM PDT

"Change makes the difference."
If you want your life to be something other than it is right now, your only true option is change. Change takes courage and isn't easy, especially if you're feeling safe and secure with the way things are.
The hardest part about change is instigating it. This feels risky, but once you take that first step you set things in motion.
Today, is your day to take that first step and stop letting life push you around. Today, is the day you take charge of the changes you need to make in your life.
Start by identifying small things that you would like to change, just tiny things – things that are holding you back. Make a promise to yourself. Then, stick to that promise and watch yourself change. As you tackle small changes, your confidence will grow. You'll find that bigger changes don't seem insurmountable. And, most important, that change is rewarding and fun, after all!

Confidence and Beliefs

Believe in yourself through tough times. Believe in your capacity to succeed. Believe that your relationships are worth the effort. Believe that people make mistakes on their way to greatness. Believe that people can be foolish and intelligent, selfish and generous, and stressed and happy all at once. Believe that very few people hurt others on purpose. Believe that there are many roads to what's right. Believe in your intuition, especially when you have to choose between two good paths. Believe that the answers are out there waiting. Believe that life will surprise you again and again. Believe that the journey is the destination. Believe that it's all worth your while
Count your blessings instead of your crosses;
Count your gains instead of your losses.
Count your joys instead of your woes;
Count your friends instead of your foes.
Count your smiles instead of your tears;
Count your courage instead of your fears.
Count your full years instead of your lean;
Count your kind deeds instead of your mean.
Count your health instead of your wealth;
Love your neighbor as much as yourself.
"Sometimes beautiful things come into our lives out of nowhere. We can't always understand them, but we have to trust in them. I know you want to question everything, but sometimes it pays to just have a little faith."
Lauren Kate

The greatest success

You don't have to be famous to be important. You don't have to be a celebrity to be successful.
You don't have to live in opulent luxury to be rich. You don't have to be irresponsible to be free.
You don't have to be outrageous to be creative. You don't have to be abusive to be impressive.
You can be quietly humble and still be amazingly effective. You can be kind and considerate and still have great influence.
Just because people don't fall at your feet and worship you, doesn't mean you are a failure. Quiet success is just as sweet as loud, flamboyant success, and usually much more real.
Success is what you choose for it to be, not what everyone else says it must be. Live your life in each moment in a way that truly fulfills you and brings value to your world, for that is the greatest success.
Ralph Marston

Let that be a lesson to you babe, never steal food of a wild pack of monkeys when you're t the beach.

Poem-A-Day: Muffin of Sunsets by Elaine Equi

Posted: 24 May 2013 03:35 AM PDT

Muffin of Sunsets

The sky is melting. Me too.
Who hasn't seen it this way?

Pink between the castlework
of buildings.

Pensive syrup
drizzled over clouds.

It is almost catastrophic how heavenly.

A million poets, at least,
have stood in this very spot,
groceries in hand, wondering:

"Can I witness the Rapture
and still make it home in time for dinner?"

About This Poem

"The title is from a line in a Joe Ceravolo poem. I like muffins and I like sunsets, so it seemed a good idea to combine the two. Lucky for me, since I live in New York, I'm especially fond of the city sunset--the kind whose beauty stops you when you're running someplace else and there are often a lot of others around jockeying for a piece of the view."

Daily Inspiration - Daily Quote ... Jonathan Lockwood Huie

Insights for living with joy and purpose

Dear Ferry Meed

You can't live a perfect day without doing something
for someone who will never be able to repay you.
- John Wooden

What we have done for ourselves alone dies with us;
what we have done for others and the world remains and is immortal.
- Albert Pike

Spread love everywhere you go.
Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier.
- Mother Teresa

One can pay back the loan of gold,
but one dies forever in debt to those who are kind.
- Malayan Proverb

If you can't feed a hundred people, then feed just one.
- Mother Teresa

Pay It Forward.
Gift future generations in proportion to your gratitude.
The nature of life is that we pay forward
our biological creation and nurture.
Our parents gift us with life and nurture,
and we gift our children with life and nurture.
While this much is essential to continued human existence,
choose to take "pay it forward" farther - much farther.
- Jonathan Lockwood Huie

Each of us has been generously gifted by parents, teachers, mentors, and others we can never repay. So, in gratitude for what we have received, it is now our turn to generously gift the children, the up-and-coming, and the down-and-out -- with no expectation that they can ever repay us - and with the hope that they will, in turn, pay-forward to another generation.

TODAY, consider performing an act-of-kindness for someone who can never repay you.

My friend Clint Steele has a website that is dedicated to the Pay-It-Forward concept and to weekly ideas for Pay-It-Forward Fridays. Take a look at payitforwardx1million.com

[Fropki] The 7 Wonders of ultramodern Dubai

Posted: 23 May 2013 08:44 PM PDT

(Please let the pics open. Might take some time on a slower connection.
If you can't see the pictures, right click the small Red-Cross and choose Show Picture to view it.)

Anushka Sharma Hot Bikini in Jab Tak Hai Jaan

1. Burj Dubai: world's tallest building

The Burj Dubai will be the world's tallest building when it opens in 2009. The building is part of a 2 km2 (0.8 sq mi) development called 'Downtown Dubai' and is located at the "First Interchange" along Sheikh Zayed Road at Doha Street. The building was designed by Adrian Smith before he left Skidmore, Owings and Merrill LLP (SOM) of Chicago to start his own independent practice, Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture in October 2006.[3] SOM continues to lead the architectural, structural engineering and mechanical engineering of the Burj Dubai. The total budget for the Burj Dubai project is about $4 billion US dollars and for the entire new 'Downtown Dubai', $20 billion US Dollars.

Its shape is inspired by the indigenous desert flowers that often appear as decorative patterns in Islamic architecture, but it also has an engineering purpose: The swirl shape ensures that the mass of the structure lessens as it reaches the top, making the structure steadier. A mixed-use building developed by Dubai's Emaar Properties, the Burj Dubai will house shops, offices, residences, and entertainment venues.

2. Palm Islands: palm-shaped man-made island

The Palm Islands in Dubai are the three largest artificial islands in the world. They are being constructed by Nakheel Properties, a property developer in the United Arab Emirates, who hired the Dutch dredging and marine contractor Van Oord, one of the world's specialists in land reclamation. The islands are The Palm Jumeirah, The Palm Jebel Ali and The Palm Deira. The Islands are located off the coast of The United Arab Emirates in the Persian Gulf and will add 520 km of beaches to the city of Dubai.

The first two islands will comprise approximately 100 million cubic meters of rock and sand. Palm Deira will be composed of approximately 1 billion cubic meters of rock and sand. All materials will be quarried in the UAE. Between the three islands there will be over 100 luxury hotels, exclusive residential beach side villas and apartments, marinas, water theme parks, restaurants, shopping malls, sports facilities and health spas. The creation of The Palm Jumeirah began in June 2001. Shortly after, The Palm Jebel Ali was announced and reclamation work began. In 2004, The Palm Deira, which will be almost as large in size as Paris, was announced. Palm Jumeirah is currently open for development. Construction will be completed over the next 10-15 years.

3. Dubailand: world's largest amusement park

Dubailand is to be the largest amusement park collection in the world. Twice the size of Disney World, it is expected to be a full featured city divided into six theme worlds:

    Attractions & Experience World 13 km2 (5.2 mile2)
        Universal Studios Dubai
        Tiger Woods Dubai
        Bawadi
        Global Village
        Kids City
        Giants World
        Water Parks
        Aquadunya
Dubai Snowdome, an indoor ski resort.
    Retail and Entertainment World 4 km2 (1.6 mile2)
        Flea Market
        World Trade Park
        Auction World
        Factory Outlets
    Sports and Outdoor World 19 km2 (7.4 mile2)
        Dubai Sports City
        Emerat Sports World
        Plantation Equestrian and Polo Club
        Dubai Autodrome
        Dubai Golf City

    Themed Leisure and Vacation World 29 km2 (11.2 mile2)
        Women's World
        Destination Dubai
        Desert Kingdom
        Andalusian Resort and Spa
    Eco-Tourism World 75 km2 (28.9 mile2)
        Al Sahra Desert Resort
        Sand Dune Hotel
        Al Kaheel
    Downtown 1.8 km2 (0.7 mile2)
Mall of Arabia, which will be the world's largest shopping mall
        City Walk
The Great Dubai Wheel, which will be the world's 2nd largest observation wheel after Shanghai Kiss
        Virtual Game World

4. Hydropolis: world's first underwater luxury resort

Hydropolis, the world's first underwater luxury resort, brings new meaning to the "ocean-view room." Situated 66 feet below the surface of the Persian Gulf, Hydropolis will feature 220 guest suites. Reinforced by concrete and steel, its Plexiglas walls and bubble-shaped dome ceilings offer sights of fish and other sea creatures. It's scheduled to open in 2009.

5. The World Islands: man-made islands in the form of a world map

Ever wish the world was smaller? The World is a man-made archipelago of 300 islands in the shape of a world map. The World is being built primarily using sand dredged from the sea. Each island ranges from 23,000 m2 to 84,000 m2 (250,000–900,000 square feet or 5.7–21 acres) in size, with 50–100 m of water between each island. The development will cover an area of 9 km in length and 6 km in width, surrounded by an oval breakwater. The only means of transport between the islands will be by boat and helicopter. Prices for the islands will range from $15-45 million (USD). The average price for an island will be around $25 million (USD). Dredging started in 2004 and as of March of 2007 The World is around 90% complete. According to the National Geographic Channel (The Best of Megastructures) the overall price for the World is $14 Billion US Dollars.

6. Dubai Mall: largest mall in the world

The Dubai Mall claims to be the largest mall in the world when completed. It will cover a total area of more than 12 million ft2, with 10 - 15 individual smaller malls built inside it, consisting of 9 million ft2 of shopping retail space (comprising of a total of more than 1000 stores).

Featured attractions include the world's largest gold souk; the 850,000 ft2 Fashion Island; one of the world's largest aquariums; an Olympic-sized ice skating rink; Oasis Fountain Waterfall; WaterFront Atrium; a view of the (soon to be completed) world's tallest building, Burj Dubai. The mall has already won five awards. It won two awards at the Retail Future Project Awards at MAPIC, Cannes, in 2004, for Best Retail Development Scheme (Large), Best Use of Lighting in a Retail Environment. And the Dubai Mall brochure has won three awards at the Summit Creative Awards 2005, in Portland, Oregon; Gold award for Best Art Direction / Graphic Design, Silver award for Best 4-colour B2B Brochure, and Judges Special Recognition award. The mall is being built by a Joint Venture of Dutco Balfour Beatty and AGCCC for client Emaar Properties and was scheduled to be completed in 2006, claiming to be the size of 50 "international-sized football(soccer) pitches". It is now expected to be completed in 2008.

7. Ski Dubai: largest indoor ski resorts in the world

Ski Dubai, which is already open, is claimed to be the largest indoor ski resorts in the world, with 22,500-square metres of indoor ski area. It is a part of the Mall of the Emirates, which is one of the largest malls in the world.

[AffirmationstoDe-Stress] MORNING COFFEE

Posted: 23 May 2013 06:10 PM PDT

"What you think and say determines your personal power."
Do you frequently hear yourself saying things like, "I can't do that," "It's beyond me," or, "I am not the person for this task?"
If you express negativity often enough, your mind will believe it as truth. It becomes a self -fulfilling prophecy and the longer it goes on the more you will be driven by false beliefs. You'll be left feeling powerless and out of control.
Stop this vicious cycle!
Take notice of your inner chatter and vow to transform the "can'ts" into "cans." Your internal voice must support you and give you reason to believe in yourself. It must foster respect and drive your potential. You are a capable woman, capable of endless possibilities.
Harness your negative thoughts today and make the transformation that destines you to greatness.
©Jane Powell

Don't let your insecurities bully you into a corner. Don't be your own victim. Forget whether or not everyone else likes you, and focus on loving yourself more. Accept, define and believe in the person you are. For once you sincerely do, so will the rest of the people in your life who truly matter to you.

What you give

It is by making a difference that you make a life. It is by giving of your authentic self that you gain access to life's great richness.
When things are going well, you have many opportunities to make a difference. When difficult problems arise, you have even more opportunities to move the world positively forward.
Today will present you with plenty of meaningful opportunities to make a positive difference. Each of these opportunities is also an opportunity to greatly enrich your life.
If it is self-esteem you seek, here is a way to guarantee it. Observe yourself as you work through the challenges and act to create real value in your world.
All of life longs to hear your unique voice. Be yourself, and do it with passion, effectiveness, creativity and love.
Make the choices that will make a real difference. What you give is what determines how well you truly live.
Ralph Marston
